Following once more the system used several times this season of giving the University basketball team a stiff practice scrimmage in preparation for its games, Coach Wachter, preliminary to the contest with Worcester tomorrow, sent his charges against two yearling quintets at Hemenway Gymnasium yesterday afternoon.
In both contests the University players exhibited a decided superiority over the Freshmen, although Coach Tolbert's men developed an effective passing game, and but for the sterling defence offered by the more experienced team, would have been able to turn their many opportunities to tally into actual points. Lowenthal, who took part in both contests, was the outstanding point-winner in the University attack, while the consistent work of Kent Middleton marked him as the yearlings' most valuable player.
Today a complete rest will be given all members of the University and Freshman squads, as Coaches Wachter and Tolbert wish to have their respective charges in the best possible condition for the double-header with Worcester and the New Hampshire State Freshmen tomorrow night.
