The First Memorial Society President
To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
May I correct the error in the enclosed clipping from the Crimson by pointing out that the first President of the Harvard Memorial Society was the late Justin Winsor, the distinguished Librarian, historian and bibliographer? This fact is attested by Mr. Winso's signature on the charter members shingles dated May 7, 1895. It would be unfortunate if the Society whose business it is record the history of Harvard should allow its own history to be inaccurately recorded or remembered. JEROME D. GREENE '96 May 28, 1921.
(In the article referred to it was stated that the last professor Norton was the first president of the Society,--Ed.)
