COMMENT

A reprint of the editorial in the fake CRIMSON of May 30, 1901, published by the Lampoon, then under the direction of Richard Washburn Child, newly appointed Ambassador to Italy:--

The CRIMSEN feels bound in honor and justice to its subscribers to make the following statement:--

For several years past the CRIMSON has been making money in steadily increasing amounts. This money has been divided among the editors of the paper in the form of dividends. The present editors feel that since the CRIMSON is not primarily a money-making enterprise, but is merely a form of undergraduate activity, in somewhat the same way as the teams and musical clubs, it is not right for them to appropriate this money for their own use. We feel that we have money on hand at present to which we are not properly entitled. The only honest course open to us is to refund this money to those from whom it was taken.

Anyone bringing the receipt for his subscription to the CRIMSON office this evening between eight and nine-thirty will receive one dollar. After this, the subscription price of the CRIMSON will be two dollars a year instead of three and the price of a single paper will be two cents. We trust that our subscribers will find the arrangement perfectly satisfactory, and we only regret that we cannot make amends for our conduct of the past few years.
