For the Irish Republic

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

On Thursday April7, at 8 P.M. there will be held in the Living Room of the Union a University Forum on the Irish Cause under the auspices of the Harvard Chapter of the Intercollegiate Association for the Recognition of the Irish Republic. So far no effort has been made at Harvard to present to the student body the issues involved. It is our conviction that there is need of a thorough discussion under academic control.

We hold that the people of Ireland have made a prima facie case for recognition as an independent state, but we are inviting opinion to the contrary as we are deeply interested that the whole truth of the case be known to all. Among the speakers will be Professor Holcombe and Professor Rocking, who doubtless will make a searching analysis of the case. Members of the University who have anything to contribute to a proper understanding of this problem are welcome to speak from the floor.

Whatever may be the sympathies or prejudices of men as to the mighty struggle going on in Ireland at present, all who are interested in the preservation of peace, will agree that reason should be used to determine the just solution for all concerned J. J. GANNON '23.

April 3, 1921.
