CARNEGIE FOUNDATION HAS GIVEN LARGE SUMS TO TEACHERS

Fourteenth Annual Report Shows that Former University Faculty Men Have Received $625,000

That $625,000 has been paid to former teachers of the University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the fifteen years of its existence is shown in the fourteenth annual report issued by the Foundation. Former teachers of Yale and Columbia have received $548,000 and $464,000 respectively, sixteen other universities have received between one and two hundred thousand each, for former faculty members; while the remainder has gone to eighty different institutions. Altogether during fifteen years the Foundation has distributed $7,964,399 in retiring allowances and pensions to 909 persons connected with the teaching profession. The report also discussed at length the soundness of the retiring allowance system in effect at the University.
