BARRETT WENDELL

One of the lasting regrets of the four classes now in College has been that they could not know Barrett Wendell. Before the present Senior class first gathered in Cambridge, Professor Wendell had joined the ranks of the distinguished emeriti whose words and deeds form the basis of Harvard tradition.

Only those undergraduates who have had the privilege of coming under the influence of Professor Wendell at his home can realize with the graduates how precious a part of the University has gone; the others can only vaguely regret the loss of an inspirational presence they were never fortunate enough to know.
