APPOINTMENTS IN UNIVERSITY

Leaves of Absence, Scholarships and Appointments Announced

Charles W. Mixter, a member of the class of 1892 at Johns Hopkins, and a holder of a Ph.D. degree from the University, has been appointed a Tutor in the Division of History, Government, and Economics at the University, and Joseph V. Fuller '14, who has been serving as Instructor in History, has received a similar appointment. Both men are to serve throughout the second half year.

The Corporation has granted leave of absence to Dean Roscoe Pound of the Law School for the whole of next year, and to Professor Edward B. Hill '94, of the Music Department, for the first half year.

Samuel K. Lothrop '15, of Boston, who is doing advanced work in anthropology at Washington, has been awarded a John Harvard Fellowship.

A number of appointments at the Harvard Medical School are announced. Dr. Philip Drinker, Princeton 1912, and Dr. Douglas A. Thom, Vermont 1912, become Instructors of Applied Physiology and Psychiatry respectively, for the remainder of the year. Dr. Paul W. Emerson '07, Dr. David M. Hassmann and Dr. Shichi Uymatsu are appointed assistants, the first two in pediatrics and Dr. Uymatsu in Neuropathology. Dr. Uymatsu is a graduate of the Imperial University of Tokio.

Dr. Frederick L. Wells, Columbia 1905, is given an appointment as Instructor in Experimental Psychopathology, while Dr. Lloyd J. Thompson, Missouri 1917, and Dr. Caesar Uribe become assistants, their subjects being psychiatry and comparative pathology. Dr. Thomas K. Richards '15 is named Austin Teaching Fellow in Surgery. All are to serve for the remainder of the current year.
