The University entries for the Guaranty Club Track Games, to be held in the Madison Square Garden on Saturday, February 19, have been announced, and include eleven members of the squad. The major event is the medley relay, in which Princeton and Columbia have already entered. Teams are also expected from Yale and Iowa State.
The University entries in this event are F. G. Bemis '22, Richard Chute '22, E. O. Gourdin '21, R. D. Howard '23, J. E. Kennedy '23, J. A. McCarthy '22, Captain D. F. O'Connell '21, J. W. Quinn '23, and Bayard Wharton '22. Either Gourdin or Howard will be picked to run the 220-yard distance, but Gourdin seems to have the edge at present. Chute, judging by his running at the B. A. A. games, seems to be a logical choice for the quarter-mile distance, but will have to show himself better than Quinn and Kennedy before he is sure of the position.
McCarthy Leads in Half-Mile
Bemis, Wharton and McCarthy are the entries for the half-mile, and although McCarthy seems to have the best staying ability for this distance, Bemis and Wharton are pushing him hard for the position. Captain O'Connell, running in the mile, will be the anchor man.
In addition to the relay, men are entered in three other events. Gourdin and Howard are both entered in the 70-yard dash, and at least one of them should place. C. G. Krogness '21 and R. S. Whitney '22 are the choices for the 70-yard hurdles, and Krogness will also compete in the high-jump. Krogness is out of practice in both the high-jump and the hurdles, but if Whitney runs as well as he did at the B. A. A. games he should give a good exhibition.
