OUR WELCOME TO MARSHAL FOCH

Elsewhere in this issue the announcement is made that Marshal Foch, because of his health, will not be able to speak to the students at Memorial Hall when he visits the University on Monday. Except for the sentimental value of holding the meeting in Memorial, this change of plan is good news, for the building cannot hold the audience which the Marshal's fame as a general, and his status as a representative of France, will attract. Instead, therefore, a welcome will be staged that day on the steps of Widener, before which all the students will find room to assemble. There, as the canons of the Military Science Department boom a salute, the various classes, under their respective marshals, will meet and cheer the Generalissimo of the Allied forces. There is no need to urge everyone to be there. The mere announcement will suffice to crowd the Yard, and this change of plan will enable us to accord Marshal Foch as hearty a welcome as was ever received by any visitor to Harvard.
