The decision made by the Athletic Committee in its last meeting to the effect that the University football game with Centre Saturday would start at 2.30 o'clock instead of 3, as the tickets read; was made public yesterday. The changing of the time came in the main as a result of the situation which arose last Saturday in the Penn State contest.
In the first place the Committee does not wish to risk the possibility of injury to the spectators, who last week were forced to grope their way through the dark passages of the Stadium after the game, Secondly, it is considered that the chance of injury to the players them- selves is materially increased if part of a game is played in semi-darkness. In addition it is pointed out that lack of light is not conductive to good football and is extremely trying on the eyesight of the thousands of observers who throng the Stadium every Saturday afternoon.
The University soccer game with Pennsylvania on Saturday will also begin at 2.30, while the University cross-country team will meet Princeton at two o'clock, the committee decided.
Among the athletic contests approved were the Freshman soccer schedule and two additions to other 1925 schedules, a cross-country meet with Arlington High School at Belmont on November 1, and a hockey game with the Dartmouth Freshmen on January 14 at Cambridge.
Lawrence Higgins '13, who was assistant manager of the University baseball team in 1917, but who did not become manager because of joining the United States military forces was awarded an "H", and the resignation of Geoffrey Bolton '23 assistant manager of the University rifle team was accepted
