INFORMALS DEFEAT 1922 MATMEN

Win Three Out of Five Matches--Bouts Hard Fought Throughout

At Hemenway Gymnasium last Saturday night, following the University game with Wesleyan, the 1922 wrestlers were defeated by an informal team, winning only two matches out of five and those by decision of the referee, Sam Anderson.

In the 125-pound class, Forbes, for the Juniors put up a plucky fight against H. J. Freedman '23, but lost the decision on points. The second match was even more hotly contested by H. B. Walker and F. J. Fox, entered in the 115-pound class. Walker, who was on the University wrestling team last year, had nearly a foot in height over his opponent, but after almost getting him down twice, he had to accept the match by decision.

W. Fuller '22 and Stearns for the Informals in the middleweight class staged by far the fastest and closest fight of the evening. Both men were evenly matched, and at the end of the seven-minute period, the referee could make no decision. In a two-minute extra period, however, it was seen that Fuller had a bit the better of it and the match went to him. F. Rouillard '23 and C. A. C. Eastman '23, had little trouble in disposing of their opponents in the 158 and 175-pound matches, Rouillard putting his man, S. S. Saunders '22, down in just five minutes, and Eastman, captain of last year's Freshman wrestling team, requiring even less to best Abernathy, the entry for 1922.
