The second concert in Mr. Arthur Whiting's series of Expositions of Classical and Modern Chamber Music will take place this evening at 8.15 o'clock in the Paine Concert Hall. These concerts have been prepared especially for students of the University. Mr. Gervase Elwes, a distinguished English tenor, will assist Mr. Whiting tonight.
Mr. Elwes is a graduate of Christ College, Oxford, and he obtained his musical education in London, Paris, Munich and Vienna. He has appeared at many choral concerts in London, as well as private recitals, distinguishing himself especially as an interpreter of classical and modern songs.
The program will consist of works composed at times from the sixteenth century to the present period. It will include selections by Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy and others.
Members of the University will be admitted free to the floor seats. Admission to the public is by ticket only. They may be purchased at one dollar each, for each concert, at Amee Brothers' Bookstore.
