Sophomore candidates for the business department of the CRIMSON should report this morning at 8 o'clock at the Crimson Building. Men who find it impossible to report at this time should come to the office later in the morning. The duties of the candidates will be explained in detall today by a member of the board. The work of the competition includes soliciting advertisements and subscriptions and some office work. Men elected from this competition are eligible for the position of business manager in their Seniort year. Experience gained in this work is valuable, for it brings the candidates into close contact with undergraduate life and gives them acquaintance with prominent New York and Boston business firms.
Other Competitions Start Thursday
Competition in the three other departments will open Thursday evening at 7 o'clock at the Crimson Building. The first of these, the editorial, open only to 1922, offers Juniors their last chance to make the board except for the spring competition. Election to this department is based on the number of editorials published in the CRIMSON. No previous experience is necessary, but the ability to write concise and foreceful editorials on all subjects of interest to the University is essential.
The worn in the news end will be out lined by the managind editor on Thursday evening. The competition in this department requires that men cover assiguments and gather scops on news concerning the University, and that they write in clear style and form. Only men from 1923 are eligible and the competition like the editorial, will last about three months.
In the photographic department, candidates from the Sophomore class will be chosen on the basic of the number of photographs published in the bi-weekly supplement, the originality of their work and their dark room week. All dark room equipment for developing and printing will be supplted by the CRIMSON.
