YESTERDAY'S VICTORY

With the first game against Yale only a few days off, the nine's victory yesterday on Soldiers Field is encouraging. Even though the Westerners were quite evidently tired out by their long travels, the confidence which the University team may gain from having defeated a hard-hitting opponent after once bowing under the yoke is not inconsiderable. There is one more hopeful factor yet: the Harvard players avoided altogether those fatal errors which have several times given competing teams unexpected runs. Yesterday's contest was an exhibition of tight pitching and excellent fielding not altogether unworthy of a battle against the wily Eli.
