For the first time since 1916, competitions will be held for the Dodge and Wells track cups at 4 o'clock this afternoon on Soldiers Field. The L. P. Dodge Cup, which is given to the winner of the 220 yard scratch race, was last won by E. Teschner '17, who covered the distance in 21.45 seconds. The S. G. Wells Cup for the quartermile handicap was last won by W. Wilcox, Jr., '17, in 49 3-5 seconds. The other Wells Cup, for the one-mile handicap, was captured in 1916 by W. P. Whitehouse '17. All members of the track squad are eligible to compete for these cups, which become the possession of the winner for one year.
As a result of the recent handicap meet, the Mansfield Cup for the 100-yard dash has been awarded to C. B. S. Evans, Une., who took first places in that event with a time of 10 2-5 seconds. The Mansfield and Wells 440 Cups are now on display at Leavitt & Peirce's. Entries for the races will be open until 2 o'clock this afternoon.
