26 FIELDERS OUT FOR TEAM

Two Hours Practice Held in Cage Yesterday For Diamond Aspirants.

Twenty-six University and 36 Freshman baseball men reported to Coach Slattery and Coach Young, respectively, in the Cage yesterday afternoon in answer to the first call for fielding candidates for the two nines. Many of the men, however, who had already signified their intention of coming out for the teams did not report for the first workout yesterday.

The University and 1923 squads had the separate use of the Cage for two hours each, devoting their time first to batting and then to fielding practice. Both squads were divided into small groups and showed up well for their first work-out of the season.

The outlook for the spring baseball season is promising. The University fielders of last year who reported yesterday are Captain R. W. Emmons, 3d, '20, W. B. Frothingham '21, R. P. Hallowell '20. The men from last year's Freshman team who were on hand are A. J. Conlon '22, who was last year's 1922 captain, F. W. Crocker '22, and L. A. Hallock '22.

There are a number of former school stars who came out yesterday for the 1923 team.
