CREWS TO DRILL ON LYNN HARBOR TODAY

ANNOUNCE LINE-UPS

Open water practice for the crews will begin today, when the first and second University and the first Freshman crews will row on the Lynn Harbor. Although there has been a delay of a week in getting on the water due to ice in the harbor, this has finally cleared, and unless a sudden change in the wind comes, real practice for the crews will begin. It is unfortunate that the crews were unable to get on the water sooner, because there remains a very short time now in which to get into shape for the Annapolis race on April 24: The midshipmen have been on the water for a month, and Yale rowed in the harbor at New Haven for the first time on March 6. Thus the Harvard eights are under some handicap which makes it necessary to go to Lynn until the Charles shall be open.

This will be the first time that the coxswains have been needed this spring. Those who have been chosen are E. L. Peirson, Jr. '21, who coxed the first University crew last year, and F. S. Williams '22, who was coxswain of the first Freshman crew last spring. S. C. Badger '23, has been selected to pilot the Freshman boat at present; he has had experience at Brown and Nichols School, and was also active in fall rowing.
