CALL CRIMSON CANDIDATES

EDITORIAL, PHOTOGRAPHIC, AND NEWS COMPETITIONS COMMENCE.

Members of the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman Classes will be given a chance to compete for positions on the CRIMSON Board in the annual spring competition which will start tomorrow evening at 7.15. Positions on the news and photographic staff are open to members of 1922 and 1923, but only Juniors may compete for the Editorial Board.

Men competing for the news staff will report to the managing editor at the CRIMSON Building on Plympton street, where the competitions will be explained in detail. Although the competition is open to both Sophomores and Freshmen, the latter will be at no disadvantage due to unfamiliarity with the University.

The work will consist principally of gathering news and writing it up in suitable form.

The competition offers the last opportunity for Sophomores to make the news board. The successful candidates will compete with the other 1922 editors this spring for the positions of Assistant Managing Editors, four of whom will be chosen. From the four assistants the managing editor will be chosen next January. The unsuccessful aspirants will be given another chance to compete for the position of managing editor during the spring. In this way two managing editors are chosen from each class, and each of them succeeds to the presidency. As there are few Sophomore news editors on the board at the present time, there is a good chance for a candidate making the board this spring to become president in his Senior year.

As there are no Juniors on the Editorial Board at present, an unusually large number of 1921 men will be taken on this spring. The competition will consist of writing editorials on topics of interest to the undergraduate, and election to the Board will be made on the quality and number of editorials printed. Candidates for this department will hand in two editorials a week at the beginning of the competition, with a possible increase later as the competition narrows down.

The photographic competition, open to Freshmen and Sophomores, offers an unusually good opportunity to get in touch with all the activities of the College, especially the spring sports. The CRIMSON photographic dark-room, with complete developing and printing equipment, will be available for use. Election to the Board will be made on the basis of the number of photographic published in the bi-weekly pictorial supplement.
