Plans are being made by the officers of the Princeton Field Artillery Battalion to introduce an innovation in University athletic and social affairs next spring in the shape of a horse sliow. The event will be held on the Princeton race track, and, although no date has been definitely set as yet, some day during the week of the crew regatta and other spring festivities will probably be selected.
Only undergraduate members of the Battalion and on listed men will take part in the show. Prizes will be presented to the winners of all the events as well as the customary blue ribbons. In addition, there will be an award for the battery making the most points.
The show will be brought to a conclusion by a monster sham battle between the two batteries, in which the tanks will also be employed. Detachments of cavaltry, motorized units, motor scouts and machine guns, and both light and heavy guns will be used in the action.
About 50 men have reported in answer to the first call for candidates for the Princeton hockey team.
"Winti-ball" practice on University Field in order to condition the men until cold weather sets in and practice can be held on the ring.
In order to determine the men who will make the proposed trip to Buffalo during the Christmas vacation; the squad will be divided in half and each half will be taken to Philadelphia separately to practice on the rink at the Philadelphia Ice Palace. In this way the men will all have an opportunity to work on the ic and the squad which will take the trip will be picked according to the ability shown in these Philadelphia trials.
Although the Buffalo trip is still uncertain the squad will probably go there on the day after Christmas and practice until New Year's day on the Nichols' school rink. There will be games with school teams and possibly with some Canadian colleges.
Dartmouth
Beginning September, 1921, the annual fee for tuition at Dartmouth College will be $250, according to an announcement made by the college authorities. This is an increase of $50 a year over the present rate and is found necessary, it is explained, on account of the increased costs of operation of the college.
With this increase the tuition fee will equal approximately 50 percent of the annual cost per man of operation of the college, an amount somewhat in excess of $500.
Yale
Indoor practice for the Yale tennis team has started in preparation for the Southern trip which will be taken during the spring vacation. This practice in the cage is limited to the squad which has been chosen by Coach Hinchcliffe and is under his personal supervision.
Owing to the failure of Captain-elect K. Hawks, 1921, to return to college this year, F. M. Bundy, 1921, was elected to the captaincy.
Two other members of last year's championship team are available this year. They are: J. M. Weber, '19 S., and E. H. Hedstrom '21.
The itinerary of the Southern trip will include a four of the northern part of Virginia with probable matches with the Chevy Chase Country Club at Washington, the University of Virginia, Norfolk, and others yet to be arranged, Last year's trip was thoroughly successful, only one individual match being lost on the ontire trip.
The enrollment at the Yale Law School shows nearly a forty per cent increase ever that of last year. This year there are 185 students registered there while last year there were 135. Each of the three classes is larger than in any previous year since the college degree requirements for admission was adopted some ten years ago. In addition, there are fifty-one College Seniors majoring in in law and three students from other departments, so that the total student body is really 239.
