The fact that the University and Princeton played a tie game and Princeton later defeated Yale by a larger score than the University did, is no basis on which to compare the relative strength of the two teams or on which to award to either eleven the so-called football championship of the East.
A victory without crossing the opponent's goal line may be an achievement of much more merit than one in which a touchdown figures, but it seldom receives an equal amount of credit.
