On Tech Field Saturday afternoon, the University soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with the M. I. T. booters, while the Freshmen kicked through a 1-0 victory over the engineer yearlings.
In the University game, Tech had the edge in the first half, forcing the play throughout. Only the work of the backs and some clever stops by Cummings at guard kept the engineers from scoring. Heizer's goal for the University came near the end of the period and marked the only time the ball was in Tech territory.
In the second half playing was very even, and it was only in the last few minutes of play that Martino caged the tying tally from a scrimmage in front of the University's goal. Two five-minute over time periods failed to prove either of the teams superior.
The Freshman game was another closely fought contest, Byington scoring the lone goal in the second half.
