CLASS AND INTERDORMITORY RACES FEATURE REGATTA

With Exception of Picked Crews That Will Stay on River Curtain is Drawn on Rowing

The regatta closing the fall crew season will start this afternoon. Four races are scheduled for today, and the remainder of the competition will be run off tomorrow. The first class crews of the three upper classes will stage the first contest, while the second race will be between the 1922 Crew B, and the B and C Crews for 1923. Interdormitory races, between the first and second crews of the three Freshman halls, will complete the program. All the races will he rowed downstream, on the mile course between the Cottage Farm and Harvard bridges. Tomorrow, races are slated between the third, fourth and fifth Dormitory crews on a half-mile course upstream.

The regatta practically brings the season to an end. With the exception of four University crews, two class crews, and two Freshman crews, regular practice will stop. The above crews will continue on the river until forced in by the colder weather, about the fifteenth of next month to judge from past years. Other Freshman crews will be given a 10 days layoff from crew work, and consequently from compulsory exercise as well, extending until November 7, when they will resume work three times a week in the tank. All other upperclass crew candidates are free to report for practice inside or out at their pleasure.

The only outside race of the week has been a very informal brush between the Technology Sophomore crew and a mixed crew made up from the 1923 A and B boats. The Engineers had little difficulty in pulling away from the Sophomore combination, which had never rowed together before and as a result failed to exhibit any signs of first class watermanship.
