Announcement by the track management of the invitation interscholastic cross country meet at Harvard on October 30 comes as welcome news to those members of the University who have felt that in recent years the college was losing prestige among secondary schools. The appointment of an undergraduate committee to see to the proper entertainment of visiting athletic teams has already proved its value this season, in combating the prevalent belief that Harvard was aloof and indifferent to the welfare--of athletic rivals and preparatory school teams during their stay in Cambridge.
The proposed meet here will not only give representatives of the various schools in the vicinity of Greater Boston an opportunity to meet informally at training table and on the race course, it will also promote better understanding between the college and the schools. The H. A. A. has made arrangements for the race to precede the triangular contest of the Freshman harriers with Andover and Worcester, and plans to reserve a special section for the visitors at the game against Virginia in the Stadium. It remains only for the undergraduate body to lend their interest and support to the scheme.
