Compromise between the Lodge and Democratic reservations of the Peace Treaty obtained a slight plurality over ratification without reservation or amendment in the final returns of the Intercollegiate Treaty Referendum. Senator Borah drew but a very slight following, and those favoring the Lodge reservations were a poor third in the voting.
In the 410 colleges and universities throughout the country where the matter was submitted to a vote, 139,788 ballots were cast with the following results:
