To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
The conspicuous and continued absence of recommended books from the reference shelves of Widener is a genuine cause for annoyance among earnest students in the University. When these books cannot be otherwise accounted for by attendants in the Reading Room, the suspicion that they have been taken by persons' who, having themselves immediate use for them, do not recognize the rights of others to similar use, appears to be not unfounded. The books placed on the reference shelves are for general circulation, and it need hardly be pointed out that persons removing, for private use, books many of which are essential or highly important in preparation for examinations, are acting unfairly toward their fellow students.
