FRESHMEN DEFEATED TECH. NINE

Smith and Crocker Leaders of Offense in 11-3 Victory.

Yesterday afternoon, the 1922 baseball team won a one-sided victory from the M. I. T. Freshman nine, by a score of 11-3. The yearling batters hit Fitzgerald of Technology at will, getting a total of ten safeties, including two-base hits by C. J. Mason, S. R. Smith, and W. B. Rice. Many errors by the visitors helped to run up the high score.

Rice pitched a good game for the first eight innings, but weakened in the ninth, when five hits by the M. I. T. Freshmen brought in two runs. The University did very well at bat, and appeared to have completely recovered from their brief batting slump. Smith, with three hits in three chances, and F. W. Crocker, also with three hits, were the chief factors in the offense of the University 1922 team.
