The communication from the President of the Municipal Council of Paris published in yesterday's CRIMSON further strengthens the friendly relations between our country and France. It is quite evident that in order to maintain intimacy with our ally in times of peace we must co-operate in other than military and diplomatic fields. Foreign educational relations are beneficial in themselves and are moreover especially adapted to the firm cementing of these two great nations.

As M. Chassaigne-Guyon points out in his letter, all things should be under taken which may strengthen the bonds between French and American students. France, by her gift of land to the American University Union, has paved the way in this movement and it is now the privilege of this country to further this worthy enterprise.

We are confident of the success of the University Union, and, as an increment of this institution, Harvard wishes to express again its thanks for the benevolent support and co-operation of France, which was so kindly expressed by the letter of M. Guyon.
