Action has recently been taken at Yale in the reorganization of the university in several important ways. The graduate school of arts and sciences, and the graduate school of applied science and engineering, previously in control of different faculties, are now merged under a single dean. The undergraduate scientific course of the Sheffield scientific school and the course leading to the degree of bachelor of philosophy have both been extended from three to four years, so that now all undergraduate courses are to be normally four years in length. The Sheffield scientific school has been placed on a different basis by the cessation of the so-called "select course" in language, literature, history, and the social and natural sciences, and will offer only the technical course.
