As the year nears its end, there still seems to be a certain apathy in the University about enrolling for the summer camp. Only 300 men, and these mostly from preparatory schools, have so far signed up. Although some men are leaving college, and some have other summer work planned, there are a great many students who ought to enroll without delay.

It is assumed that every undergraduate intends to do some useful work this summer. Never have the opportunities been so plentiful or so pressing. The need for labor on the farms and in the shipyards is of equal value with the need of trained men for the Army. Any one who does not render help in some way is a slacker no less surely than the draft resister or the deserter.

For those still in doubt as to the exact form of their service, the University summer camp offers the best solution. As R. O. T. C. men they have already started their military preparation, and they will be most useful where they can continue this work. They will be given many chances for positions of command and responsibility, the best way to learn efficient leadership. In fact it is necessary for the success of the camp to have as instructors well-trained R. O. T. C. men.

Let those who have not done so sign up at once. Delay profits nothing. The sooner there is a large enrolment, the better will the authorities be able to plan for a more complete and efficient course of training.
