At the Faculty meeting yesterday afternoon the Office was authorized to arrange special two-hour examinations for men going to the Plattsburg Junior Camp who have not already taken special finals.
"The early special two-hour final examinations will begin with Military Science 1 and 2 on Friday evening, May 24, and end on or before Saturday, June 1. The three-hour examinations in courses already scheduled for the mornings of May 29, May 31 and June 1 will be held for all members of these courses as announced on the regular order of final examinations already published. It is expected that the special examinations will also be held on May 30, it is hoped that the schedule will be published Thursday."
This statement was given out yesterday by the College Office; the action being taken as a result of the War Department Order which permits all men in the R. O. T. C., whether taking Military Science 1 or 2, to apply for admission to the June under-age camp. This order was received yesterday by Military Headquarters and states that the War Department has been disappointed in the number of applicants.
About 75 additional applicants will be accepted from the University, and at yesterday afternoon's exercise of the R. O. T. C. over 90 men applied. All applications for the camp will close Thursday noon. Any applicants who wish to withdraw their names must do so before that time.
Next week May 29, May 31 and June 1, candidates will be required to take their regulation three-hour finals with the exception of Military Science 1, on Friday evening, May 31. If possible, only one special final two-hour test will be held in the afternoon of these three days. Mr. Cram last night asked all students to watch the CRIMSON each day for the exact time and place of the examinations, as many changes may have to be made even after the list is given out.
The College Office is taking steps to make it possible for men taking the examinations to take part in the athletic contests already, scheduled. As a few important tests will be scheduled for Saturday, May 25, and June 1 as possible. Proctors may be provided to accompany the teams and enable the men going to Princeton and New Haven Friday to take their Military Science test.
