TENNIS CANDIDATES NUMBER 54

PRACTICE FOR UNIVERSITY AND 1921 SQUADS STARTS TODAY.

At a meeting of candidates for the University and Freshman tennis teams held last night at the H. A. A., 45 men reported to hear Manager Kirk outline plans for the season. The total number of candidates for the two teams is now 54. Spring practice begins at 2 o'clock this afternoon, when University men will report at Divinity Field, and Freshmen at Holmes, or, if the courts there are not yet in shape, at Jarvis Field.

Today, men will arrange their own matches, but beginning tomorrow they will be assigned opponents. The management plans to give all promising candidates an opportunity to participate in the first three matches for the two squads, after which a captain will be elected and definite University and Freshman squads picked.

By arrangement with the military office, all tennis men may go to Wakefield this week end with the first battalion and so be able to play in the matches scheduled for the two following Saturdays.

The match scheduled for this Saturday between the University and Williams has been cancelled. Accordingly, the first contest for the University team will be the match with Dartmouth on Friday, May 3, to be played in Cambridge.

Freshman Schedule Announced.
