PROHIBITIONISTS TO ASSEMBLE

INTERCOLLEGIATE ASS'N. GUESTS OF UNIVERSITY ON APRIL 13 AND 14.

The Intercollegiate Prohibition Association of Southern New England will hold its annual convention in Cambridge on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, when delegates from many colleges in Massachusetts and nearby states will meet, as guests of the University, to discuss and approve the National Prohibition Amendment. A varied and interesting program is being arranged, and several speakers of wide reputation will address the convention on the subject of prohibition.

At present there are no representatives from the University to this convention, but any man desiring to become a delegate may obtain further information about the requirements by applying to A. Beane '11 at Phillips Brooks House. The delegates may be either for or against prohibition. Each will be expected to speak on his side of the question.

Among those who are already scheduled to speak are Mr. Dan Poling, the associate president of the United Society of Christian Endeavor, and President Murlin of Boston University. The former has just returned to this country from work behind the lines in France.

To Hold Oratorical Contest.

The main feature of the Saturday night session will be an oratorical contest in which the various colleges will enter representatives to speak on some phase of the liquor traffic. Two prizes of $50 and $25, respectively, will be offered for the best speeches.

Five colleges have already pledged themselves to send delegations to the convention. They are Yale, Brown, Williams, Boston University, and the University of Vermont.

All contestants in the oratorical prize competition are to submit copies of their orations to Harold L. Webb, at Williams College, Williamstown, not lated than April 9. Orations must not exceed 1,500 words.
