Yesterday the Phillips Brooks House began its United War Work Campaign in the University. Technically, the national drive does not commence until Monday; however, in order to make certain of raising its share of the $2,000,000 which the colleges of New England have pledged themselves to give, the University is taking a lead of four days in order to get a running start.

To make certain that every man in the military units has ample opportunity to make his contribution a special collector has been appointed in each company of the S. A. T. C., the S. N. T. C., and the Marine and Naval Units to receive the money. Those living outside of the University or not reached by a collector are requested to make their contribution directly to the Phillips Brooks House.

The seven soldiers' welfare organizations which are represented in the United War 'Workers' drive have set $170,500,000 as the minimum amount to be obtained during the week of November 11.

Instead of making seven separate appeals to the public for funds, they have submitted their budgets to President Wilson and have agreed to work together in one drive, from the proceeds of which each organization will receive a definite percentage for its special uses.
