Reserve Officers' Training Corps

June 14, 1917.

Memorandum:

1. The 3rd Battalion, under command of Major E. M. Briggs, R.O.T.C., will march to the Wakefield target range Monday, June 18, for a week's target practice.

2. This march will be conducted as prescribed in Field Service Regulations, Pars. 96-105. Officers and non-commissioned officers are charged with the duty of preventing straggling. In case it becomes necessary for any man to fall out he will be accompanied in every case by a non-commissioned officer.

3. Each man will bring the following articles to University Hall not later than 7.30 A. M., Monday:

3 blankets, or 2 blankets and 1 comforter; 1 undershirt; 2 prs. socks; 1 shaving outfit; 1 face towel; 1 bath towel; 1 Small Arms Firing Manual; 1 Manual of Interior Guard Duty; 1 tooth brush; 1 cake soap; 1 comb; 1 pr. shoe laces (extra) 1 pr. shoes; 1 rain coat (optional). No other articles will be taken. These articles will be securery tied by each man in as compact a bundle as possible, and each man will attach to his-bundle a linen tag giving name and company. The bundles will be placed on the ground under the supervision of the supply sergeant of each company, and will be shipped to the target range by motor truck. In case of rain the bundles will be placed on the porch of Weld Hall.

4. Assembly: Time, 8.00 A. M.; Place, Persis Smith Armory; Uniform, Service Uniform B with Blouses; Arms, Rifle and Bayonet.  C. CORDIER.  Captain, U. S. Army, Commandant.  June 14, 1917.

Memorandum:

5. The following appointments of tactical instructors, with relative rank in the Reserve Officers Training Corps, are made:

To be Majors: Theodore Lyman, E. M. Briggs.

To be Captain: E. W. Hamlen.

They will be obeyed and respected accordingly.

6. Major E. M. Briggs is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, vice Munro, resigned, and George Blake as Battalion Adjutant, 3rd Battalion, vice Perry, resigned.  C. CORDIER.  Captain, U. S. Army, Commandant.  June 14, 1917.

Memorandum:

As general inquiry is being made concerning enrolment in the Federal Camps, members of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps are informed that application blanks and printed instructions are to be mailed from Washington on June 15; that no action can be taken until the enrolment is formally opened after their receipt; and that a full announcement will be made to the Reserve Officers' Training Corps concerning the camps as soon after that date as practicable, viz. about June 20th.

Application is by mail, up to July 15th. After that date a personal examination will be made of those whose applications are approved.  W. S. BOWEN.  Captain, U. S. Army, Asst. Commandant.  June 14, 1917.

Notice:

For Commencement Week, June 18--23, cadets will be excused as follows:

Monday evening, after 6 o'clock--all seniors.

Tuesday--all seniors, and after 2.30 P. M. all other cadets in the 1st and 2nd Battalions.
