1920 BASEBALL MANAGERS REPORT

20 Battery Candidates Present at First Practice of Season.

All candidates for the position of Freshman manager will report today at the H. A. A. office at 1 o'clock. This is the last opportunity for Freshmen to compete for a major sport managership. The work will at first consist of both clerical work and work in the cage. Later, the work will be chiefly out of doors. No previous experience is necessary for the work in the competition.

Twenty candidates reported for the University battery and ten for the Freshman at the first practice of the season, which was held yesterday afternoon in the cage. The promising material for the University pitching staff included W. G. Gault '17, C. L. Harrison '18, W. Willcox, Jr., '17, W. G. Cummings '17, M. P. Delano '18, E. C. Dingwell '19, W. B. Felton '19, W. P. Hardy '18, R. M. Loring '18, D. J. O'Keefe '18 and R. B. Tyler '17. The candidates for the position of catcher on the University nine included R. Harte '17, C. Fuller '19, F. H. Stevens '18, O. M. Watkins '19 and A. D. Weld '18.

The University candidates were instructed by Coach Hugh Duffy and Captain G. E. Abbot '17, the Freshmen by Coach John Bell. All battery candidates who were not present yesterday will be expected to report this afternoon at 2.30. More material is needed for both the University and Freshman squads and all capable men are urged to try out.
