POSITIONS OPEN ON CRIMSON

TRIALS FOR NEWS, BUSINESS AND EDITORIAL STAFFS START WEDNESDAY.

The annual spring competitions for places on the news, business and editorial staffs of the CRIMSON will start on Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. All candidates for positions on any of these three staffs will report at the CRIMSON Building, 14 Plympton street, at 7 o'clock. The places on the news and business departments are open only to members of 1919 and 1920, the editorial competition being limited to Juniors only. This will be the last chance for members of the Class of 1919 to become news or business editors, and the last chance for Juniors to make the board.

The chief work required of the news candidates will consist mainly in gathering news of general interest to the University and putting it in form for publication. This work will prove exceptionally valuable for those intending to enter journalism as a career; in addition, the CRIMSON reporter gains a great deal of knowledge of University organizations and institutions, which can be obtained in hardly any other way. The acquaintance with those who are at the head of undergraduate and Faculty organizations will also be invaluable.

Business Competition for Freshmen.

For the first time this year members of the Freshman Class will be allowed to compete for positions on the business staff and several positions are still open on this branch for Sophomores. The work required of these candidates is mainly the solicitation of advertisements as well as a certain amount of clerical work; no bookkeeping or previous experience is necessary, however. This business competition affords men intending to take up a business career an excellent chance to become somewhat acquainted with business men and their methods.

All three competitions will last approximately 12 weeks. It will be of great advantage to any men contemplating entering the business competition to get in touch with the business manager as soon as possible. He may be found in the CRIMSON Building every morning between 8.30 and 9 o'clock.
