The University has received a bequest of $10,000 from the estate of Horace Davis '49, the income of which is to be used for the purchase of books relating to the Northern Pacific Ocean and its shores for the Widener Library.
Horace Davis was the son of Governor John D. Davis of Massachusetts. He graduated from the University in 1849 studied in the Law School for three years, and was later President of the University of California from 1887 to 1890.
