Plans for the fall season of the Dramatic Club are under way. The play competition will close on October 14. The judges will be Winthrop Ames' 95, one of the most noted and artistic of American producers, Walter Prichard Eaton '00, one of the leading dramatic critics of the country, and Professor George Pierce Baker '87.
It has been customary in past years to produce a long play in the fall, but short plays are always acceptable. The club hopes, however, that a long comedy of sufficient merit may be secured for production.
The complete regulations which must be observed are as follows:
1. The competition is open to all graduate and undergraduate members of the University and of Radcliffe.
2. The plays shall be submitted in good faith for original production by the Dramatic Club. The unsuccessful plays will be returned as soon as the judges' decision has been made and the winning play retained until the production in December. Thereafter one copy of the play will be retained for the files of the club, but the play itself shall remain the property of the author, except that the Dramatic Club retains the permanent right to revive the play if it so desires.
3. Plays must be original, no translations or adaptations will be considered. Dramatizations of novels, short stories, etc., may be entered, provided full rights to make such dramatizations have been secured.
4. Plays must be handed in to J. W. D. Seymour '17, Matthews '18, by October 14, 1916, at 6 o'clock.
5. Each play must be signed with a pseudonym only, and accompanied by a sealed envelope bearing on the outside the title of the play with the pseudonym and containing a paper bearing the name of the play and the author's real name and address. These envelopes will be retained by the president until the judges have made their decision.
It is advisable that manuscripts be clear, typewritten copies. Authors should keep copies of the plays they submit. There is no limit placed upon the number of plays to be submitted by one competitor
