HEAVY FOG CURTAILED SAIL OF FIRST CREW ON "VIKING"

Managers Felton and Howe Saw Syracuse Make Clean Sweep of Races at Poughkeepsie.

Red Top, Conn., June 18.--The University crew spent the morning on board the "Viking," but returned to New London directly after lunch, on account of a thick fog. The trip from New London home was made in the "John Harvard," sufficient time being allowed, however, for a visit to the Navy Yard. The Freshmen went out in the "Roxana" to Norwich, returning home by way of Plum Island.

There is an excellent chance for a time row tomorrow, provided the conditions on the river are good.

Saturday the University crew paddled down to the two-mile flag, then turned round and came back to the flag opposite Red Top, rowing a slow stroke most of the way, but quickening to 31 for the last half-mile. The time for the upstream two miles was very slow--10 minutes 56 seconds.

Managers S. M. Felton, Jr., '16 and P. S. Howe '17 spent Saturday at Poughkeepsie and saw Syracuse win a clean sweep on the Hudson.
