CAPTAIN CORDIER.

The unusual exhibition given in the Stadium by the Regiment on Memorial Day was more significant than any number of past football contests or track meets. A thousand members of the University demonstrated in this final review that they were both willing and able to sacrifice a certain amount of time ordinarily spent in outside activities or in recreation to prepare themselves in the event of a national crisis. This unmistakable spirit of unselfish service created by the Regiment has helped in great measure to dispel the recurrent yet fallacious belief in Harvard indifference.

No individual has made so many sacrifices or taken such a keen interest in the success of the Regiment than its commander, Captain Cordier. In fact, the very first hopes for a military organization at Harvard would have perished had it not been for Captain Cordier's voluntary offer to take charge of the drill. To his unceasing efforts is due the remarkable success of the Harvard Regiment.
