To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
In a previous letter I urged that we owe it both to the public and to ourselves to make clear the reasons for drilling on Sunday. It did not occur to me to say, as your correspondent of yesterday suggests, that the order for Sunday drill was unjust.
The situation is, that Captain Cordier, who is doing more than two men's work, and giving all his spare time to the Regiment, has no other free day. He himself would gladly take Sunday as a day of rest; but if there are to be any practice marches at all under his direction, during the present year, this is the only day on which they can be held.
I share decidedly in the preference for some other day; but to bring the half-year's work to a good conclusion, it seems fair to make some sacrifice of personal preference, for the short time that remains, especially in view of the very large personal sacrifice that is made by our commanding officer. W. E. HOCKING '01.
