1919 MUSICAL CLUBS START

TRIALS FOR CANDIDATES BEGIN TONIGHT.--FIRST SONG-FEST MARCH 1.

Candidates for the Freshman Musical Clubs will be tried out tonight and tomorrow night at 7 o'clock. Singers will report with a solo to M. A. Shattuck '19 in Smith Common Room, or to C. W. Cook '19 in Standish Common Room. These men have been appointed to lead Freshman Glee Club activities for the present in their respective dormitories. Nobody has as yet been appointed to lead the singing in Gore Hall. There is a great need for accompanists, and anyone with ability should report.

Candidates for the Banjo and Mandolin Clubs will report to R. D. Sears '19 in Standish A 32. Any Freshman is eligible for these clubs who can play the mandolin, mandola, guitar, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, banjo, banjeurine, or drums. At the end of the trials 30 men will be retained for the Banjo and Mandolin Clubs, while 25 will be kept for the Glee Club.

The first of the weekly song-fests will be held in the various Freshman Common Rooms next Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. Well-known songs in which everyone can join will be sung. At this first meeting Dr. A. T. Davison '06, who is in charge of Freshman music in general, will announce the winner of the class song competition, and the prize song will be played and sung.
