Owing to the impossibility of keeping more than 18 or 20 players on the University hockey squad, and as a large percentage of these men are Seniors, far more attention is to be paid to the development of a strong second team this year than ever before. A schedule of nine games has already been completed including a number of trips. For the first time, it is hoped that the Yale second team is to be played as the last game of the season, and arrangements to that effect are now being made.

The team should be a strong one, with R. R. Bishop '19 and B. Wells '19, of last year's Freshman squad, as goals, and C. A. Clark '19, D. Duncan '17, J. R. Parsons '19, W. Platt '19 and O. T. Wagner '18 out for defence. For the left side of the line there will be a large number of candidates, including J. L. Merrill '19, L. M. Pratt '18, M. Phinney '19, G. Hubbard '19, R. E. Strawbridge '19, C. J. Coulter '19, R. S. Cook '17, C. W. Timpson '18, J. D. Francis '19, and D. A. Tirrell '18. The right wings and centres will be A. H. Bright '19, A. W. French '19, G. A. Farness '18, L. Jackson '19 and R. J. H. Powel '18. The large number of Sophomores who are expected to report will assure a good foundation of team play which will not have to be relearned when they take the place of the Seniors on next year's University seven.

Practice for the second team will begin soon after the Christmas recess. The coach for the team has not yet been announced.
