The new section of the subway between Washington street and the South Station is now completed and will be open for traffic next Monday. This branch which is only a section of the proposed system of the extension of the subway lines into Dorchester, will greatly shorten the time and the distance from Cambridge to the South Station. Cambridge trains will run through direct to the new station.
