SECOND TEAM SCORED ON SUBS

UNIVERSITY SCORED TWICE ON SECONDS.--BRICKLEY AT PRACTICE.

The University football team had a long scrimmage against the second team yesterday afternoon in which each eleven scored. At first the University had no trouble holding the second team and made two touchdowns, but after the substitutes had been sent in, the seconds swept down the field for a touchdown. The first University score came after a series of long gains by every member of the original backfield and was made on a line plunge. The University had another chance to score shortly afterwards when the seconds fumbled on their four-yard line and the regulars recovered the loose ball, but none of the backs were able to get through the scrubs' line. Not long afterwards the second touchdown was made on a long run through a broken field.

S. Burnham '19, who substituted for Thacher, showed up well as a defensive back, tackling hard and following the ball well. He made sure of every second team back who got past the University line and is likely to give Thacher a hard fight for his regular position.

Brickley Helped Coach Freshmen.

C. E. Brickley '15, who is now coaching the Boston College team, was down on the field and paid a great deal of attention to the 1920 squad, showing them particularly how to drop-kick. He also coached them in kicking off and in line drives. Later he went into the Stadium and watched the University practice, but did not give the men any personal instruction.
