Not enough enrolments for the American Red Cross have been received and plans for a more energetic campaign are being made. In the Red Cross collections held among colleges throughout the country, the University ranks among the last. Accordingly the time for enrolling has been extended to November 25, and men wishing to join may enrol at the CRIMSON Building on Plympton street or in Weld 3, before that date.
All applications thereafter must be made through the Boston office at 42 Water street. Membership in the American Red Cross does not require any active service, but members will be informed of the work of the organization through the society's annual and special pamphlets, which will be sent to them.
The American Red Cross is authorized by an act of Congress, and the President of the United States is its honorary head. It is the only volunteer organization in the incorporated to give relief both in-time of war and after sudden catastrophes. Prompt and practical relief has been rendered in more than 80 disasters during the last ten years, and much good work has been done in preventing disease and instituting educational movements.
