The House committees for the Freshman dormitories have been appointed and the present selection will be subject to the approval of the student body later in the year, but until then the committees chosen will have direct supervision over the three Common Rooms, and the activities in each. It has been proposed that a schedule of entertainments be arranged to take place in each Common Room. The chairmen for the three committees will be elected this week.
This plan for organizing the dormitory committees is an innovation, for last year the committees were elected by the members of the three halls, after nominations had been made by the Student Council. It was argued, however, that the class so early in the year knew nothing of the men they elected. Accordingly this year the following have been appointed by the Regent:
Smith Hall: William Halsall Cheney, of Peterborough, N. H.; Frederic Cameron Church, Jr., of Lowell; James Renville Clements, of Bay City, Mich.; Robert Alan Lancaster, of Worcester; Rigis Henri Post, Jr., of Bayport, L. I., N. Y.
Standish Hall: George Russell Brown, of Newton; Dexter Clarkson Hawkins, of New York, N. Y.; Eric Alan McCouch, of Philadelphia, Penn.; Oliver Prescott, Jr., of Dartmouth; George Stephenson Weld, of Boston.
Gore Hall: Frederic Keil Bullard, of Revere; Edward Cabot of Milton; John Gardner Coolidge, 2d, of Brookline; Lowry Hagermann, of Colorado Springs Colo.; Chase Mellen, Jr., of Garden City, L. I., N. Y.
