The Dramatic Club will begin its activities on or about November 1, and all candidates for positions either in the cast or on the producing staff will be called out at that time. Business and advertising candidates will start work shortly before the others. As soon as the Graduate Committee has selected the play, an open meeting will be held in Phillips Brooks House. At this meeting the play will be read and plans for the fall production outlined. All candidates for any department of the club are invited to attend. Acting and publicity competitions will begin shortly after this meeting, as the dates of the production have been set for December 12, 13, and 14. Members of the cast will be chosen according to the ability shown in trials.
The stage department includes property and electrical management, and ample opportunity will be given for candidates to acquire practical experience in theatrical stage management.
The publicity competition offers a wide training in the work of a theatrical press agent. Candidates will have an opportunity to meet the various dramatic critics, and others prominent in the newspaper and theatrical world. Men with ability to draw will be able to compete for the poster designs.
The question of a coach has not yet been decided. It is possible that the club will pursue its policy of last spring and dispense with the services of a professional. This would make the production unique as being entirely staged, produced and coached by undergraduates.
