Red Top, Conn., June 14.--The University crews took a two-mile row down-stream to the Navy Yard and back this afternoon, the order being the same as usual. The second boat took a shorter row and the Freshmen went for a four-mile spin.
In the morning all three crews were out on the river, the University taking a nine-mile paddle while the second and Freshman boats rowed four miles.
The order is now practically decided upon and there will probably be no more changes except the substitution of H. S. Middendorf for White in the second boat as soon as the former has recovered from his boil.
The Yale crew took a time trial this afternoon, covering the four-mile course in 21 minutes, 54 seconds, an improvement of 3 seconds over the University's last time. During the trial they were paced by the second and Freshman boats, each of which rowed two miles. The freshman boat lost three lengths when number 5 caught a crab, but made up the distance, finishing even.
