Yale Victory Would Tie Series

The Princeton and Yale baseball teams will meet in the second game of their series at Princeton this afternoon. In the first game, Yale was defeated by a 2 to 1 score, Deyo, of Princeton, pitching air-tight ball. The third game will be played at New York next Wednesday.

Eli Nine Has Improved.

The Yale team has been showing improved form of late. The team defeated the New Haven league players on June 3 by the score of 3 to 0. Watrous was in the box for the Eli nine and held the professionals to two hits. It was the first game he has pitched for some time and if he continues to show the same form he will be a valuable asset in the championship series.

Last Saturday the team defeated Pennsylvania, the nine which the University is playing today, by the overwhelming score of 10 to 4. Pumpelly pitched the game, and though he showed a tendency to be slightly wild, his delivery proved a complete puzzle. The batting order experienced an important shift in this game: Milburn, the second baseman, was put in the lead-off position, with H. Middlebrook second and Captain Middlebrook third. Hunter was placed ahead of Reilly on the list and Rhett went into eighth place.

In the batting averages which were published yesterday LeGore is leading the team with a mark of .294. Bush, Hunter and Reilly follow with marks of .283, .269, and .268 respectively.
